Thanks to the ongoing work of the Downtown Development Authority, Fort Lauderdale has successfully transformed itself into a vibrant "live work play" urban center home to residences, businesses, government agencies, and a huge selection of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
The DDA is now developing The Wave, a 10-station environmentally-friendly streetcar system. Work will begin on this electric rail transit program in 2011, with service expected to start in late 2015. The Wave will feature a stop on SE 6th Street right in front of 110 Tower and will circle through key points in the downtown area. The program will also feature streetscape improvements and The Wave will eventually connect with the Tri-Rail train. For more information, visit The Wave's website.
Across the street from 110 Tower, the Broward County Courthouse is undergoing an expansion and renovation. The new 21-story building is scheduled for completion in 2013. This project will include a new parking deck, public green space, and pedestrian walkways.
